Research Rookies in the News:

Freshman Takes Advantage of Research Opportunity

Congratulations:

Ruby Roknic - 2011 Undergraduate Research Forum Honorable Mention

Makayla Trotter (former Research Rookie) - Will intern for the Fall semester 2011 with National Geographic Education Division in Washington DC.

Mission:
The purpose of the Saluki Research Rookies Program (SRRP) is to engage highly motivated freshman in faculty-mentored, hands-on research activities.  Students explore their intended majors, develop relationships with faculty in their field, and gain valuable research and critical thinking skills.

Ultimately the program goal is to improve the retention of promising, high achieving first-year students, particularly first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented minority students, by providing the academic and psycho-social support necessary to facilitate a seamless transition from high school to the sophomore year of college.

Program Funders:
This year the SRRP is generously funded by the Office for the Vice Chancellor for Research and the Office of the Provost.
